Incredible as it may sound to snow junkies, not every person heading to a ski resort will want to ski or snowboard. Sometimes people are injured, other times they feign it to reside in the après ski bars. But having a wide of ‘non-skier’ activities helps group harmony and adds to the options of those wanting a break from the skiing or snowboarding.
The range of attractions off the snow varies greatly with resort. Some activities are high-octane pursuits such as paragliding, ice driving or Olympic bobsled, whilst others are more sedate such as winter walks or day spas. The list of challenging, non-skier activities being offered by ski resorts seems to grow by the year. Zip wires, paragliding, ballooning and scenic flights take clients into the air for new perspective on the local geology, whilst motor sports include skidoos, ice cart and high performance 4 wheel drives which can be taken on specialist off-road trails.
Activities need not test bravery, there are a number of Alpine activities that are of a more sedate pace such as winter walks, snow-shoeing, horse drawn carriage rides or gastronomy tours.
