Snowflake

Galtür is the last ski resort in the hugely impressive Paznaun Valley ski region that includes the ski resorts of See, Kappl and the mighty Ischgl. The ski area has been divided into freeride / off-piste sectors to encourage visitors to take advantage of the great natural terrain.

The resort is split into Galtür and an outpost called Wirl. Galtür has all the main amenities and is around 2 minutes by road from Wirl. Wirl is slope-side with most of the accommodation there, ski-in / ski-out. The valley around Galtür is beautiful, rugged and dramatic.

GALTÜR SKIING

Galtür is the highest ski resort in the Paznaun Valley and offers a dramatic setting at the upper end of the valley. The satellite resort of Wirl offers ski-in, ski-out hotel accommodation whilst a single ski pass includes Galtür, Ischgl, Kappl and See – the 4 resorts of the Paznaun valley. Off-piste skiing in Galtür is managed in designated freeride sectors with riders encouraged to make of the most of the rugged Galtür terrain. For those wanting to go on a ski safari there is a Pisten Bully tow available into the Montafon ski region from Galtür.

In the opposite direction, Ischgl awaits with the promise of some of the best skiing in the Alps. The shared ski pass and bus connections mean that Ischgl really is a must-ski destination for those staying in Galtür. The ski area absolutely lives up to the hype with big terrain, a superb lift system and some epic off-piste skiing. The other benefit of skiing in Ischgl is finishing the day in Ischgl, which means world-beating après ski. Further north in the Paznaun valley, it is possible to ski in Kappl and See, both mid-sized and interesting ski areas.

GALTÜR RESORT

The main centre of Galtür occupies a wide and dramatic valley at the southern margins of the Paznaun valley. Shops, bars and restaurants are all located here, as is the Alpine Museum. The majority of accommodation, services and accommodation are located here, with the ski area located 2 minutes down the road.

Wirl is the satellite village which is 2 minutes down the road from the centre of Galtür. Wirl has slope-side and ski-in / ski-out accommodation. There are a number of terrace bars and restaurants for visitors, yet there are far fewer services in Wirl compared to Galtür. Buses run between the areas throughout the day.
