High winds and endless changing skies made for an incredible setting, with the sheer rock faces of the Dachstein on one side and the lumbering glaciers on the other. There were a good few skiers and snowboarders who had made the trip up to the Dachstein Glacier although in the distance the Planai seemed to have ample snow cover still. There were ots of ski tourers and mountaineers up on the Dachstein Glacier as well yesterday. I might be at odds with the masses who at this time of the year are dreaming on sand and sun, my attention is very much on the glaciers and the incredible snow and scenery that they offer at this time of the year. There are at least 6 more weeks of great skiing to be had and after that there will be intermittent cold snaps offering the ‘stragglers’ the chance for some summer powder skiing.
