Sölden expands

The glacier skiing has been operational for a few weeks now, slightly delayed by the lack of snowfall in October. That all changed in the last 10 days and the Giggijoch ski sector of Sölden opened today, looking glorious, with near mid-season conditions. The conditions are so good that the decision was made to bring forward the planned opening date.

Obergurgl looks on jealously

Just south of Sölden is the neighbouring ski resort of Obergurgl, higher than Sölden and traditionally one of the first non-glacier ski areas to open in Austria. They are scheduled to open next week, enjoying the same superb snow conditions as Sölden.

Ischgl will wake up the Paznaun valley

In less than 2 weeks the epic ski area of Ischgl will be opening for the winter. The calm of the Paznaun valley will be shattered as this mega resort welcomes guests to its slopes and après ski bars.

Innsbruck opens

Skiers and boarders in Innsbruck have had several weeks of glacier skiing at the Stubai Glacier, but alternatives will soon be here with the opening of Axamer Lizum in 2 weekend's time. The Christmas markets of Innsbruck will be in full swing, and the wild scenery of Axamer Lizum in November will be great to experience again.

It might not seems like the ski season in London or Dublin right now, but the skiing in the Alps is steadily opening.
