Undiscovered gem & off-piste Mecca. Blanketed in otherworldly snow depths, Stuben is as picture-postcard as it gets. For corporate ski groups, Stuben am Arlberg is one of the great Alpine retreats in the Alps.

Part of the epic Arlberg ski region, Stuben gets breath-taking levels of snow - the powder and off-piste skiing are rated as the best in Austria, possibly the Alps by experienced and well-travelled skiers and snowboarders.

Stuben is wonderfully authentic and historic. The resort centre is small and facilities tend to be located in the hotels. The quality, atmosphere and charm of Stuben, especially when buried under metres of snow are out of the ordinary.

3 reasons to choose Stuben am Arlberg

Snow covered building at sunrise

The ultimate alpine retreat

Stuben is mind-bendingly beautiful. There are few alpine retreats that can compete with the sheer charm of Stuben. It is mesmerisingly beautiful.

Helicopter landing on snow near skiers

heli skiing

Besides the superb off-piste terrain above Stuben, heli-skiing flights can be taken from Lech and Zürs for the ultimate skiing experience.

powder tracks behind a mountain hut

the arlberg

The best off-piste skiing in Austria, very possibly the Alps, Stuben receives a staggering amount of snow each winter and offers fantastic terrain.

Stuben am Arlberg skiing

It is the length of the ridge and the variety of routes which make Stuben the best out there for off-piste. Local guides are a must but even with the locals from St Anton, its instructors, those dodging work for a powder day in Stuben, all descending on the Albonagrat after new snow, there are endless routes to find fresh tracks.

And for those wanting the ultimate, there is heli-skiing. The nearby ski holiday resort of Zürs is the only place (along with Lech) where heli-skiing is permitted in Austria. With its avalanche transceiver testing device in the resort centre, Stuben really is the off-piste capital of Austria.

On paper Stuben relies heavily on its access to the St Anton and Lech-Zurs ski areas. The new Flexenbahn gondola has linked now lift linked Stuben / St Anton with Lech-Zürs, a link that was previously only possible by road. The main ski lift out of the village was developed for the 2024 winter allowing for quick access to the ski area.

Theses ski areas dwarf the Stuben ski area in terms of ski lifts and ski pistes but for those in the know, Stuben off-piste skiing is rated as the best in Austria and maybe the Alps. The snow record in Stuben is incredible, the region around Stuben gets more snow than any other location in Europe. Just three lifts out of Stuben and you are at the Albonagrat, a ridge that feeds endless off-piste routes back down toward Stuben.

Stuben resort

Stuben is also all about quality - the limits on development in Stuben have retained the style, character and quality of Stuben. The centre of the resort is wonderfully atmospheric, whilst the roofs are often bending under the weight of the snowpack.

There are a couple of shops and a range of hotels and guesthouses in Stuben, whilst its huge stone walls give it a real alpine feel. There are few more atmospheric resorts in the Alps and even fewer that experience the snowfall of Stuben.

Stuben après ski

The one principal location for après ski in Stuben is the centrally located Hotel Post. Here an après ski terrace looks out over the Albona ridge and is the meeting place for ski tourers, free-riders and their guides. Stuben is an alpine getaway without the raucous après ski of other resorts.

For those looking for après ski action, several mountain huts in both the St Anton and Stuben ski areas offer piste access to Stuben after the lifts close. St Anton offers the Mooserwirt – a goliath of après ski and more than enough action for any corporate ski trip. Return in the evening would be by taxi transfer.

Stuben meetings

Stuben offers a magical corporate retreat location, with an intimate village and wonderful setting. Small, atmospheric venues, both in the village and on the mountain, are available for meetings. Breakouts and lunches can be taken in the rarified air of the mountains.

The nearby resorts of Lech and St Anton both offer professional meeting facilities. Lech has the new (2024) Congress Centre, a stunning contemporary venue, while St Anton has its own Congress Centre, capable of hosting large conferences.
