Cloud-piercing skiing, queue-free lifts, pumping après ski huts, ski-in / ski-out hotels and a stunning new conference centre – Obergurgl delivers superb corporate ski trips from Nov – May.

Close to the Italian border and wrapped by towering glacial peaks, Obergurgl is as snow-sure as they come, whilst its ski in / ski out satellite village of Hochgurgl is the 2nd highest in the Alps. The skiing is famed for its staggering views and empty slopes.

The slopes are never emptier than when the schnapps trays are airborne at the Nederhütte – a pumping slope-side après ski nirvana that is mercifully located closer to the resort than the top station.

Obergurgl offers many hotels with immediate access to the slopes, whilst Hochgurgl is fully ski-in / ski-out – a must-have for some corporate ski trip planners. Both Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are compact and easy to navigate.

The recently opened and imposing Gurgl Carat Conference Centre in the heart of Obergurgl offers a stunning meeting venue for event planners looking to add a meeting element to their corporate ski event.

Obergurgl skiing

With the skiing in Obergurgl reaching over 3000m, the ski area is one of the most snow-sure ski areas in Austria. When the weather is kind and the skies are blue, the skiing and snowboarding in Obergurgl can be otherwordly for intermediates, with wide gentle ski pistes which are regularly banked in fresh snow.

The skiing in Obergurgl reaches over 2 mountains, the two sectors linked by an almost horizontally travelling gondola that spans an enormous valley. Hochgurgl offers a range of team lunch options which are easily accessible by any non-skiers on the corporate ski trip.

For better skiers and snowboarders, several ski routes can be genuinely challenging even in good weather and conditions. Off-piste is another draw in the Obergurgl ski area for better skiers and snowboarders, the height of the Obergurgl often ensures excellent snow quality.

Just north of Obergurgl is the mega-resort of Sölden offering huge terrain and high-altitude skiing on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. The ski area is easily reached from Obergurgl and offers further ski options to this fantastic part of the Ötztal valley.

Obergurgl resort

At the southern end of the Ötztal valley, close to the Italian border, Obergurgl enjoys staggering views, surrounded by the biggest peaks in Tirol. Deep in snow, with a horizon of serious eye candy and with cross-country skiing trails running past the resort, Obergurgl epitomizes the winter wonderland.

Obergurgl is compact and its large hotels all enjoy good or immediate access to the slopes and ski lifts. The newly opened Gurgl Carat conference centre is bang in the middle of the village – ideally located for corporate ski trips requiring a professional meeting venue.

For corporate ski event planners wanting total ski-in, ski-out luxury then Hochgurgl is located at a whopping 2150m, making it the second-highest ski holiday resort in the Alps. There are slope-side, spa hotels in Hochgurgl with swimming pools lapping against the snow. Hochgurgl is connected to Obergurgl by a ski lift, ski piste and road.

Heading north of Obergurgl is the ski resort goliath of Sölden, offering a wide range of shopping and entertainment. Further north in the Ötztal valley, the fantastic Aqua Dome thermal spa is located – one of the premiere spas in the Alps.

Obergurgl après ski

Outwardly, a sleepy high-altitude ski village paradise at the southern reaches of the Ötztal valley, Obergurgl, actually offers some afternoon surprises in the shape of serious après ski. The Nederhütte is an absolute après ski institution.

Located a few hundred metres above Obergurgl, the resident band, the Nederlumpen crank up the atmosphere during mid-week sessions and the masses in attendance lose themselves in après ski. The Nederhütte - not to be missed!

Whilst the Nederhütte offers fantastic Austrian après ski, little in the observable universe can compete with Sölden for après ski. By a twist of fate, Sölden is located just a few minutes north of Obergurgl and offers après ski from the dark side.

Company folklore is frequently written on corporate ski trips and for those looking to establish unofficial corporate pecking orders, Sölden looms large on the radar of opportunity.

Obergurgl meetings

Opened in 2020, the Gurgl Carat Conference Centre offers stunning modular spaces in the highest conference centre in Europe. Located in the heart of the village, the Gurgl Carat has a cutting-edge exterior and an interior media wall that is something to behold.

The overhanging entrance area can be customised as an outdoor event space, whilst the proximity to the local hotels makes it an absolute breeze to get to and from.

Many of the larger hotels in Obergurgl and Hochgurgl have dedicated meeting rooms for meeting & seminar events. There are mountain huts that can provide meeting venue spaces or alternatively, host break-out sessions from the Gurgl Carat.

The pristine air and stunning landscape of Obergurgl are conducive to creating a potent atmosphere for any meeting or seminar event.
