Stubai Glacier skiing

The Stubai Glacier area is excellent for intermediate skiers, with wide and gentle ski pistes that typically offer superb snow conditions throughout the main winter months. For better intermediates, several similarly wide red ski pistes are popular with ski race training clubs and ski carvers looking for consistent snow conditions and wide slopes to wind across.

Steep skiing on the Stubai Glacier is limited to a few areas but those with good local knowledge and experience can tackle the off-piste. There is some excellent off-piste terrain around the Fenau area and the height of this part of the glacier ensures that the snow can be extremely light.

There is a large snow park, the Stubai Zoo and some good ski touring routes to the numerous 3000m+ peaks in this border region. There are 2 ski routes down to the valley base station and the Wilde Grub'n is outstanding in fresh snow, with the ski route offering the longest slope on the glacier, with superb off-piste sections.

The Stubai Glacier has one of the best lift systems in the region, which carries skiers and boarders to the high-altitude snow fields on the glacier. The redeveloped Eisgrat gondola has improved volumes and comfort.
