Tomorrow it is the big opening of the Kaunertal Glacier and that will be all the Tirolean glaciers open for action in the third week of September. Mother nature played a big role in the opening with heavy snow over the least week – this combined with tens of metres of glacial ice underfoot has given fantastic early season conditions that will be enjoyed by many over the coming weekend. Official opening parties will be taking place in October as usual but for those lucky enough to be in the region right now there should be some great and relatively un-crowded pistes to get some seriously early season turns on.

Created by matt | With the Hintertux & Pitztal Glacier already open for business, today saw the Stubai Glacier and Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers at Solden open in sunny conditions with fresh snow carpeting the glaciers.
