Gerlos in epic March conditions |

Located mid-way(ish) on the fantastic ski safari from Zell am Ziller to Hochkrimml, Gerlos has south facing slopes and this winter, they have been blessed with deep, deep snow.

Gerlos is something of a Dutch outpost, off the radar to many who head down to the big-name resort of Mayrhofen, just a few minutes further down the valley from Zell am Ziller. A pretty resort on a high-altitude pass, the ski area can also be reached via the neighbouring ski resort of Zell am Ziller.

As a ski region the Zillertal Arena takes some beating, with diverse terrain the extends far into Salzburg from Tirol, pretty ski-in / ski-out villages, great après ski and offering a shared ski pass with the superb Zillertal valley. The route between Zell am Ziller and Gerlos is spectacular, a high-altitude pass that exits into the sunny slopes of Gerlos. From this point it is possible to visualise the furthermost point of the Zillertal Arena at Hochkrimml that is reachable on snow.

A recently added gondola located in the western side of Gerlos has added capacity to the village departures. Offering skiing in both directions in the Zillertal Arena, Gerlos sits pretty in the heart of things. Königsleiten offers some great off-piste skiing in one direction, Zell am Ziller some good steep skiing into the Zilelrtal valley, whilst Gerlos offers a bit of both.
